"Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers, but let me be fearless in facing them. Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain, but for the heart to conquer it".
A year ago today I was diagnosed with Renal Medullary Carcinoma, and underwent emergency surgery to remove my left kidney and 41 lymphnodes. Today I feel beyond grateful to be alive, to have family and friends who have never left my side, to have met strangers and heard stories that demonstrate the power of the human mind and body and our ability to conquer anything, to be playing soccer again, to see Tori play in college with some pretty sweet cleats, to have the healing hands of Dr.s and surgeons at Northwestern and my entire team at NCI, and especially grateful to be able to write this cancer free! The journey isn't over but I'm ready for it.
