"It is the one - that captures the essence of the spirit of the fight to be UNCONQUERED"--My aunt Teece at Florida State wearing her Team KK gear :)
Unconquered...since my diagnosis, I've been trying to think of one word that could capture the essence of my battle, something that I could say to myself when I'm in the CT scan or when the doctor is about to enter the room with the results. And thank you to Teece, I've found it. I am, and always will be, Unconquered by this disease.
My next scan is just around the corner, April 15th, and for some reason this time more than previous ones, it feels like I was just there. Work has been really busy - for us in the wine industry Easter is one of our biggest holidays. It's fun when it gets fast because that's when I learn the most, and where I can really challenge myself to be the best. But it's also when you can lose sight of what's really important. The work days can be long and stressful, but I appreciate now more than ever how it's ok to take a breath and not try to get everything done in one day. Easier said than done of course!
I also just moved in to Jeff and Cailie's beautiful new condo (yes, my married friends!) and we have been making lots of trips to the essentials: Costco, Target, and Mariano's. My mom and I have had a blast decorating and the place is incredible! Just around the corner of where we were before, so I'm still just down the block from Devin too :)
Praying that all goes well at my next scan, Dr. Ram thinks we can extend the visits to 3 months. After I get back from NCI, I head out to Las Vegas for the first time, with Devin and his family. And the next weekend, to New Orleans for the long anticipated trip to Jazz Fest!
