I'm speechless. We launched my foundation website 6 days ago and with your help we have already raised $20,000! My sincerest thank you to all of you for donating and continuing to spread awareness. Please know that I have read every message that has come my way and I am beyond grateful to have all of you fighting in my corner. Whether it is a quick note to say you’re thinking of me; sharing your story about your battle with cancer or someone else’s; or just words of encouragement... every single message inspires me to beat this.
Honestly, the launch of the Foundation website has, in a way, made this all the more real. There are moments when the reality of my situation and what could happen hits me hard. The uncertainty that surrounds my case is so difficult to live in, but it’s also a blessing. The doctors say I don’t fit the RMC profile. That makes me an anomaly. But as one dear friend and cancer survivor said, “We anomalies exist to prove a point. Not exactly sure what point, but we are here for a reason”. Even when I feel scared beyond belief, I still believe that God has a plan for me, one that has a full life as a part of it.
In my heart, I believe I am cured. But the reality is this cancer is aggressive and has been known to wreak havoc throughout the body. But thanks to all of you, I have been in contact with more people and doctors that could provide information that may one day lead to my CURE. As far as updates go… I have a team of doctors, scientists, researchers, and family members working tirelessly every day to determine the best next steps for me. Some great news, on Friday November 1st, my case was presented at the oncology radiology and pathology conferences at the National Cancer Institute in Maryland. Thankfully they have taken an interest in my case and on November 18th I will be going to NCI to meet with doctors who will do a full genome sequencing of me. This is an incredible opportunity that could provide some of the answers we have been looking for. The genome sequencing could reveal other diseases I might be predisposed to, but it could also provide information that could help lead to my CURE and hopefully others too. I pray that this leads to a breakthrough and I will update all of you as we get the results.
We are well on our way to our goal of raising $500,000 but I still need your help! Please continue to raise awareness and spread the word to family and friends via www.10sfighttowin.org. I hope my journey and the Foundation can serve as a platform to help connect patients with resources so they receive the individualized medicine they need. Because we all deserve a chance to FIGHT TO WIN.
