This became a part of my daily routine. My mom and sister would trim my steri strips on my incision in hopes of coaxing them off. In the few weeks following surgery I wouldn't let anyone within a solid 3 feet of my incision, but as it healed I too wanted to see what I had been through. When family and friends would come over I would give them the steri strip update and lift up my shirt to show them the progress. It became such a common occurence I'm surprised I didn't start showing strangers on the street.
When I show people my scar they are always quick to comfort me, which I sincerely appreciate. But for me, my scar gives me strength every time I look in the mirror. It reminds me of what I have been through, and that there is no other choice but to WIN.
