This is my sister and me at my grandma's house in Tucson, AZ. It was my grandma's suprise 80th birthday party so everyone was in town for the first family reunion in a while. It was a blast to say the least! It had been a while since I had been back to Tucson, but the incredible view from her backyard hasn't changed one bit. She overlooks Honey Bee Canyon and the magnificent Catalina Mountains. In my mind, there has always been something so humbling about the mountains. When I see them, it's as if time has slowed down and the rush of every day life comes to a momentary halt. After talking with other family and friends who have beat cancer, and as I've seen myself, this is a time where I have to be more in tune with my mind and body than I ever have. It makes me appreciate settings like this one, where my natural surroundings help me feel present at that very moment in time.
